Nost Camera ("the app") is a camera and photo-editing app published by Unime ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. In short: your photos, videos and face data stay on your phone. We do not collect, receive or sell any of your personal data. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob, which collects some device data as described in section 4; a one-time Remove ads purchase turns ads off.
1. What the app accesses, and why
- Camera — Taking photos and videos. (The first time you open the app)
- Microphone — The video's soundtrack. (Only when you record video with sound)
- Location (approximate or precise) — Writing the place a photo was taken into the photo file (EXIF). (Only if you turn on location tagging in Settings)
- Photos and videos (your phone's gallery) — Showing, editing and grouping those photos inside the app. (Only if you choose to show your phone's own photos in the app's gallery)
- Vibration — Haptic feedback on dials and the shutter.
- Internet — Ads (free version), Google Play purchases, and downloading the on-device AI models and optional look packs (see section 3).
- Advertising ID — Used by Google AdMob to show and measure ads in the free version (section 4).
You can withdraw any permission at any time in your phone's Settings › Apps › Nost Camera › Permissions. The app keeps working without location, microphone or gallery access.
2. Your photos, videos and edits
- Photos and videos you take are saved to your phone's gallery (Android's shared Pictures / Movies folders) and to the app's private storage on the phone.
- All processing — film looks, filters, portrait retouching, background blur, panoramas, night and long-exposure modes — runs on your phone. Your photos and videos are never uploaded to us or to anyone else by the app.
- Edits are stored on the phone and can be undone.
3. Face grouping ("People") and other on-device AI
- People groups photos by person. To do this it detects faces and turns each face into a numeric description (a face "embedding") using an on-device model. These descriptions are stored only on your phone, are never uploaded, and are used only to group your photos. They are deleted when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app. They are not used to identify anyone by name.
- Face contours (for portrait retouching) and scene labels (for automatic settings) are computed on the phone by Google ML Kit, which runs through Google Play services.
- Edit's larger models (segmentation and depth) are downloaded once from their publishers (Google's model storage and Qualcomm AI Hub). Only the model files are downloaded; nothing about you or your photos is sent in these requests, beyond what any download inevitably shares with the server (such as your IP address).
4. Third-party services
The app has no analytics SDKs and no user accounts.
Advertising (free version). The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob. To show, limit and measure ads and to prevent fraud, AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from it, device and app information, and how you interact with ads. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland the app asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown, using Google's consent tool; you can change your choice at any time under Profile › Remove ads › Ad privacy choices. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings › Privacy › Ads. AdMob never receives your photos, videos or face data. How Google uses data from apps that use its services: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Purchases. The Remove ads purchase is handled entirely by Google Play. We never see your payment details; Play tells the app only whether this Google account owns the purchase.
It uses Google Play services / ML Kit for on-device face detection and image labelling. Google states that ML Kit may send Google limited, non-identifying data about how the feature performs (such as device model, app version and performance metrics) to maintain and improve the service. Your images are processed on the device and are not sent. See Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy and ML Kit's terms: https://developers.google.com/ml-kit/terms.
Model downloads come from Google Cloud Storage (Google) and Amazon S3 (hosting Qualcomm AI Hub), which may log standard request data such as IP address under their own policies.
5. What we collect
Nothing ourselves. We do not operate servers that receive data from the app, and we do not collect, store or sell personal information. In the free version, Google AdMob collects the ad data described in section 4 under Google's privacy policy. If you email us, we use your email only to reply.
6. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
7. Data deletion
Because everything stays on your phone, you control it: delete photos in the app or your gallery, clear the app's data in Android Settings, or uninstall the app to remove everything it stored (photos you saved to the shared gallery stay there until you delete them).
8. Changes
If this policy changes, we will update the date above and the version in the app's store listing.
